Tim Householder
STEaM Teacher and Coach
Pronouns: he/him/his
Background / Bio
Tim Householder teaches high school engineering and robotics in north county San Diego. He holds teaching credentials in engineering, computer science, physics, and math. "Mr. House" began a new career in education after completing a diverse engineering & leadership career with the US Navy, where he has served on three nuclear submarines, one aircraft carrier, the Undersea Rescue Command (formerly the Deep Submergence Unit), and the Naval Information Warfare Command.
Before teaching engineering he spent over 20 years working in various technical disciplines, and held positions as an electronics technician, nuclear reactor operator, nuclear weapons officer, systems engineer, cybersecurity engineer, force protection / antiterrorism officer, and project manager; he has operated, maintained, and managed systems with high-pressure air & hydraulics, high voltage, high explosive, high radiation, and high frequency, as well as a myriad of less dangerous and less impressive-sounding (but still necessary!) systems.
He is an electronics hobbyist and a compulsive reader who occasionally plays guitar, drums, video games, and whatever board games his kids tolerate.
He is a California native who lives in north county San Diego with his wife and their two school-age children.
