Tim Householder teaches high school engineering and robotics in north county San Diego. He holds teaching credentials in engineering, computer science, physics, and math. "Mr. House" formally began his career in education after completing a diverse engineering & leadership career with the US Navy, where he has served on three nuclear submarines, one aircraft carrier, the Undersea Rescue Command (formerly the Deep Submergence Unit), and the Naval Information Warfare Command.
Before teaching he spent over 20 years working in various technical disciplines, culminating in a senior engineering management position leading an organization of over 1,200 scientists, engineers, and support personnel with a budget over $1.3 billion. He has held many varied positions in his diverse career, such as: electronics technician, nuclear reactor operator, nuclear weapons officer, systems engineer, cybersecurity engineer, force protection / antiterrorism officer, and project manager; he has operated, maintained, and managed systems with high-pressure air & hydraulics, high voltage, high explosive, high radiation, and high frequency, as well as a myriad of less dangerous and less impressive-sounding (but still necessary!) systems.
He is an electronics hobbyist and a compulsive reader who occasionally snowboards and plays guitar, drums, video games, and whatever board games his kids tolerate.
He is a California native who lives in north county San Diego with his wife and their two school-age children.
